Caiphus Ntante, who trains world heavyweight title hopeful Razell Mohamed, is relieved after Boxing South Africa (BSA) finally cleared his boxer ahead of Sunday’s departure for New Zealand.

Ntante endured anxious moments as BSA delayed issuing a clearance letter for Mohamed to produce in New Zealand where she will challenge International Boxing Federation (IBF) female heavyweight champion Te Arani Moarana ‘Lani’ Daniels at the Eventfinda Stadium in Auckland on Saturday, 26 August.

“We got our clearance from BSA today (Thursday),” Ntante, who is the chief trainer at Caiph Camp in Gqeberha, confirmed.

The 34-year-old Mohamed, who has three wins and two draws, will be making history by becoming the first South African female boxer to fight for a world heavyweight title.

The Nelson Mandela Bay Promoters Association organised a beautiful send-off for Mohamed at the City Hall on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Daniels will be attempting to make a successful first defence of the title she won after she defeated her compatriot Alrie Meleisea in May this year.

The 35-year-old Daniels is a former New Zealand light-heavyweight and Australasian heavyweight champion, who has eight victories, two defeats and two draws.
