Thembelani Nxoshe will attempt to reclaim the South African flyweight title when he challenges reigning champion Jackson ‘M3’ Chauke late next month.
Rated fourth in the flyweight current ratings, Nxoshe has signed to face off against Chauke from Tembisa, Ekurhuleni, at the Orient Theatre in East London on Saturday, 30 September.
Nxoshe is the current Eastern Cape flyweight champion following his eighth round stoppage win over Xolisile Voyi in March this year.
Trained by Amanda Magatya, Dowie Mzini and former SA junior-welterweight champion Mzolisi Yoyo in Mdantsane, Nxoshe once held the SA flyweight title after he defeated Doctor Ntsele in November 2014.
Interestingly, the four title defences Chauke has made since he won the crown after he beat Thabang Ramagole in April 2019 were against Eastern Cape boxers.
The 38-year-old Chauke defeated Sihle Jelwana, Luyanda Ntwanambe and Sinethemba Kotana while he drew with Phumelela Cafu.
