Lerato ‘Lights Out’ Dlamini will get back into the ring as he is scheduled to face off against Osaka-born former world champion Tomoki Kameda in Japan next month.
Dlamini from Welkom in the Free State and the erstwhile World Boxing Organisation (WBO) titlist clash in a 10 international rounds bout on Saturday, 7 October.
“Lerato Dlamini is going to fight Tomoki Kameda, former champion of the world, in Japan over 10 rounds. Great fight, great opportunity. Tomoki, a veteran, a world class fighter,” Dlamini’s trainer Colin ‘Nomakanjani’ Nathan said.
Dlamini’s record stands at 19 victories (11 stoppages) and two defeats while Kameda has won 49 times (22 knockouts) and lost three fights.
That Dlamini, who stopped Tanzanian Hamidu Kwata in the third round in July, is going to clash with the Japanese means that Nathan will make two trips to Japan between now and next month.
Nathan, who is the chief trainer at Hot Box Gym, is leaving for Japan together with Hekkie ‘Hexecutioner’ Budler on Saturday. Budler challenges World Boxing Council (WBC) and World Boxing Association (WBA) ‘Super’ junior-flyweight champion Kenshiro ‘The Amazing Boy’ Teraji on Monday, 18 September.
According to the August ratings of the International Boxing Federation (IBF), Dlamini is rated 12th while Kameda is rated 15th by the World Boxing Council (WBC) and the World Boxing Association (WBA) rates him in fifth spot.
