Landile ‘Man Down’ Ngxeke wants to maintain his winning momentum as he clashes with Filipino boxer Denmark Quibido in his third fight of the year at the East London International Convention Centre (ICC) on Sunday.

Ngxeke, who stopped Argentine opponent Luciano Francisco Baldor in the fourth round at the Orlando Community Hall in Soweto last month, is going to defend his World Boxing Organisation (WBO) Global bantamweight title against Quibido.

“Training has gone very well while preparing for this fight. We are looking at another win as always. I’m the defending champion and I want my hand to be raised after the end of the fight. He’s coming here with nothing and will return home empty handed,” Ngxeke said.

Quibido is the second Pinoy boxer to face Sada-born Ngxeke this year. Ngxeke defeated Filipino boxer Michael Mendoza in an International Boxing Organisation (IBO) Intercontinental junior-bantamweight title contest at the Orient Theatre in East London six months ago.

Meanwhile, the 27-year-old Quibido, a current Filipino junior-bantamweight champion, will be making his second visit to South Africa.

The Pinoy southpaw didn’t do well in his first visit to South Africa as he lost to Sikho Nqothole when they fought in a WBO Global junior-bantamweight title contest at The Galleria in Sandton, Johannesburg, in October last year.

“He’s a thinker and has a good eyesight. I saw him when he fought against Nqothole last year. One has to be careful and not rush things,” Ngxeke remarked.
