Cape Town City made things more difficult for their neighbours Cape Town Spurs beating them 3-1 in a DStv Premiership encounter at the Cape Town Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
It took the winless Urban Warriors only three minutes to get ahead as their striker Ashley Cupido beat Citizens goalkeeper Darren Keet.
This was the Urban Warriors’ fourth goal in seven matches this season. It was also the second time that Cupido found the back of the net this term.
Darwin Mendoza Gonzalez equalised from the penalty spot two minutes before the half-time break. Match referee Thando Ndzandzeka awarded the Citizens a penalty after Jarrod Moroole handled the ball inside the box.
The Citizens shot to the lead when Khanyisa Mayo scored following Gonzalez’s cross in the 70th minute. An 86th minute own goal by Siyanda Msani made it 3-1 and gave the Citizens their third win of the season in eight matches while the Urban Warriors remain winless in seven games.
