Following his decision to move up two divisions, former South African junior-lightweight champion Sibusiso Zingange is going to make his junior-welterweight debut later this month.

Zingange, who didn’t finish his last two fights after he picked up shoulder injuries, clashes against Mncotsho-born Gift Bolo in Bloemfontein on Friday, 27 October.

“I’ll be fighting against Bholo in Bloemfontein later this month. It’s going to be my first fight since I moved up to the junior-welterweight division,” Zingange said.

“As I said before, I had problems and I struggled to make the junior-lightweight division. I think it was because I had been in the same division for some time.”

Zingange from Benoni in Ekurhuleni lost his SA junior-lightweight title to Lunga Sitemela after he dislocated his left shoulder in the 10th round while attempting to make his first successful defence in Johannesburg in May last year.

He had won the national title after he outpointed former champion Phila Mpontshane in Johannesburg three months earlier.

The 30-year-old Zingange was unlucky yet again when he dislocated his right shoulder in an eight rounds bout against Asanda Gingqi in East London in March this year.

Meanwhile, Sihle Jelwana and Enathi Stelle are going to fight in a vacant World Boxing Federation (WBF) junior-bantamweight title contest.
