Monalisa Takane gets an opportunity to realise her dream of winning a South African title as she challenges current junior-featherweight champion Matshidiso ‘Scorpion Queen’ Mokatsane.

Takane from Kirkwood in the Sunday’s River Valley, Eastern Cape, is going to fight against Mokatsane at The Ridge Casino, Emalahleni, in Mpulampula on Sunday, 22 October.

“I’m going there to take the title. This is my time,” a confident 31-year-old Takane remarked.

Takane and Mokatsane drew when they clashed at the Feathermarket Theatre in Gqeberha last October. And Takane wants to settle the matter this time around.

“She complained last year saying that a home decision resulted in the fight being a draw. Now it’s time to settle this once and for all. I’m happy that this fight has been taken to another province. I’m going to be crowned the new South African champion that day,” Takane said.

This fight between Takane and Mokatsane is going to be promoted by Arnold ‘Squire’ Nododile’s Infinity International Boxing.

Meanwhile, South African champion Mapule Ngubane faces Kenyan boxer Charity Mukami Mujwiri in a World Boxing Association (WBA) female middleweight title fight in the same bill.
