It was a bad start for Banyana Banyana as they were beaten 4-3 by Malawi in their opening Group A match at the COSAFA Women’s Championships at the Lucas Masterpieces Moripe Stadium in Atteridgeville on Wednesday afternoon.
The Malawians’ goals came from Temwa Chawinga’s hattrick with the other goal being scored by Leticia Chinyamula.
On the other hand, Thubelihle Shamase, Nkhensani Nkuna and Sphumelele Shamase netted Banyana’s goals.
Meanwhile, eSwatini defeated Madagascar 2-1 in the opening match of the tournament at the same venue.
