Orlando Pirates successfully defended the MTN8 trophy after they beat Mamelodi Sundowns 3-1 on penalties at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban on Saturday evening.
The match was decided on spot kicks after the two sides had played to a goalless draw in two hours of football in windy Durban conditions.
Pirates goalkeeper Sipho Chaine saved the penalties of Bongani Zungu, Junior Mendieta and Teboho Mokoena with only Mthobi Mvala beating him.
On the other hand, Deon Hotto, Lesedi Kapinga and Karim Kumvuidi converted their penalties and Tapelo Xoki shot wide.
