Matshidiso ‘Scorpion Queen’ Mokatsane is still standing after she successfully defended her South African female junior-featherweight title against Monalisa Takane on Sunday evening. 

Mokatsane from Kroonstad in the Free State defeated Kirkwood-born Takane on points at The Ridge Casino in Emalahleni, Mpumalanga. 

This was a rematch of the two boxers’ drawn fight, which was held at the Feathermarket Theatre in Gqeberha last October. 

Meanwhile, Mapule Ngubane won the vacant World Boxing Association (WBA) Pan-African female middleweight title after she stopped Kenyan boxer Charity Mukami in the fourth round.
