An opponent to face current South African lightweight champion Khaya Busakwe in a mandatory challenge has finally been found.

After Katlego Khanyisa’s trainer-cum-manager Colin ‘Nomakanjani’ Nathan declined an offer for his boxer to challenge for the SA title, an inexperienced Shameeg Williams from Cape Town raised his hand.

Now Busakwe is going to make the second defence of his title against Williams, who has won all his three fights, on Saturday, 16 December. Busakwe has 10 wins (nine stoppages), three losses and a draw.

Williams barged into the controversial October ratings after he stopped Luthando Mkwini in the second round at the Orient Theatre in East London earlier this month.

Unrated before his last fight, the Capetonian went straight to fourth place in the SA lightweight ratings after winning against Mkwini, who had only won once in his last five fights before they clashed this month.
