True to his word, boxing trainer Colin ‘Nomakanjani’ Nathan is sticking to his guns and won’t allow his boxers to fight for South African and provincial titles until there’s a new administration at Boxing South Africa (BSA).

This became evident when Nathan turned down an offer for his unbeaten boxer Katlego Khanyisa to challenge reigning SA lightweight champion Khaya Busakwe in East London on Saturday, 16 December.

Busakwe is due for a mandatory defence and Gauteng lightweight champion Khanyisa, who is rated number two in the controversial October ratings, was the obvious choice as number-one rated Kaine Fourie is unavailable because of his Saturday, 25 November, fight against former SA champion Lusanda Komanisi.

“I’m not going back on my words. I’ve been quite vocal about my disdain for BSA, administratively,” Nathan remarked.

“I explained to Kat and I told him that we had been given an offer, which is peanuts. The offer is pretty low and I’m not gonna subject him to go to East London where he’s gonna be subjected to a weigh-in which is four hours late. He understood everything I said.”

The controversial October ratings forced an angry Nathan to take a decision not to allow his boxers to fight for SA and provincial titles until further notice.

Meanwhile, Lwandile ‘Jazz’ Ntsito, who is a Xaba Promotions matchmaker, said when contacted for comment: “I have not been told about Khanyisa declining an offer to fight against Busakwe.”
