Mamelodi Sundowns are going to play against Moroccan side Wydad Athletic Club in the final of the African Football League.
The Brazilians reached the inaugural final of the competition after they beat Egyptian powerhouse Al Ahly 1-0 on aggregate. Sundowns and the Red Devils played to a goalless draw at the Cairo International Stadium in Egypt on Wednesday evening.
The Tshwane giants will have to thank their goalkeeper Ronwen Williams, who kept them in the game after he saved Ali Maaloul’s penalty in the 12th minute.
Sundowns suffered a big blow when Junior Mendieta was red carded following a reckless and dangerous challenge in the 85th minute.
Meanwhile, the first leg of the final is set for Stade Mohamed V in Casablanca, Morocco, this coming Sunday. And six days later, the two sides will meet in the second leg scheduled for Loftus Versfeld in Pretoria.
