Adrian Curiel Dominguez became the new International Boxing Federation (IBF) junior-flyweight champion after he dethroned Sivenathi ‘Special One’ Nontshinga at the Casino de Monte Carlo in Monaco on Saturday evening.
The 24-year Mexican floored Nontshinga, who was making a voluntary defence of the title he won when he outpointed Hector Flores from Mexico in September last year, with an overhead right in the second round. Fight referee Sparkle Lee didn’t even count as she waved off the bout.
With the win, Dominguez improved his record to 24 victories (five knockouts), four losses and a draw while the 24-year-old Nontshinga dropped to 12 wins (nine stoppages) and a loss.
