A date has been set for former South African featherweight champion Azinga ‘Golden Boy’ Fuzile’s return to the ring after being inactive for more than a year.
The former world title contender returns to action with a clash against Tanzanian boxer Emmanuel Amos Stephano in a 10 rounds international bout at the Thobi Kula Indoor Sport Centre in Komani on Sunday, 3 December.
“This fight is to announce Azinga’s comeback. We will use Azinga’s next fight as a springboard for him. Immediately after this fight, I will fight for him to be recognised by world bodies. At theoment, the IBF rates him in a wrong division, featherweight. I’m going to fix that after his next fight. We want to give him two, three fights. The international stage is something else,” All Winners Boxing Club manager Mlandeli Tengimfene said.
Fuzile has fought only once – a third round technical knockout win over Malawian boxer Romeo Makwakwa in July last year – since he lost to Japanese boxer Kenichi Ogawa in an IBF junior-lightweight title contest in the United States in November 2021.
Meanwhile, the 27-year-old southpaw from Duncan Village in East London will be fighting for the first time since he joined All Winners Boxing Club in August.
