It’s quite easy to understand why boxing trainer Colin ‘Nomakanjani’ Nathan is gutted after his boxer Sivenathi ‘Special One’ Nontshinga’s loss to Adrian Curiel Dominguez from Mexico in an International Boxing Federation (IBF) junior-flyweight title fight on Saturday evening.
The fight ended too early as Dominguez dethroned Nontshinga with an overhead right, which decked the South African boxer in the second round. And fight referee Sparkle Lee didn’t even count, she waved off the fight.
“I’m heart sore, I’m disappointed. I understand that this is boxing. It happened to me before as a coach and manager. It’s gonna happen to me again in future as a trainer and manager,” Nathan said after returning home from Monaco on Monday.
“This is an unpredictable and beautiful sport that I’ve chosen. No one expected that. That’s life, sometimes life throws you curve balls that you didn’t expect.”
This was the 24-year-old Nontshinga’s first ever loss in 13 fights having won 12 times with nine of those victories being stoppages.
“Sive is a young fighter, he’s a young man. He will come back, he’s a strong kid. He never took any physical damage, he just took one hard shot. I’m looking forward to him recovering. We have to focus on his recovery and bringing him back. That’s my job. I’ve done that before with the other fighters and I will do it with Sive. He’s still capable of being a world champion again,” Nathan said.
I think it was the best for Nontshinga to stop fighting that very agresive boxer for the future because the punch caught him badly on the heard of yes Nathan may not be happy but I know he will do the best again for Nontshinga I also like that Nathan is still positive he is still going to get world title again soon
