Acting Boxing South Africa (BSA) chief executive officer Erick Nsikayezwe Sithole has asked boxers to be patient and not panic following the non-payment or late payment of their purses after sweating it out inside the ring.
Sithole has called for calm as boxers who took part in the Rise of Women In Boxing series five and six remain unpaid. Promotional outfits – Infinity International Boxing and Zantsi’s Showtime Productions – which promoted the last two tournaments of the Rise of Women In Boxing series, are apparently not to blame for the non-payment or late payment of the boxers’ purses.
“Payments are being made, boxers must not panic. These things are third party dependent. This project is funded by provincial departments. They have their own processes of transfering payments to BSA. That’s why we had delays since we started. Next year we are going to fix this,” Sithole said.
Meanwhile, BSA launched the seventh leg of the Rise of Women In Boxing series at the Scenery Park Hall in East London on Wednesday.
Monica Goci’s Ola GMM Boxing Promotions is going to promote the seventh leg of the Rise of Women In Boxing series.
