Hugo Broos fully understands the importance of Bafana Bafana qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup finals as the South African senior men’s team are going to play back-to-back qualifiers against Benin and Rwanda.
The Bafana coach is going to lead his team in this month’s first qualifier against Benin at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban this coming Saturday.
“It’s an important camp because we play the qualifiers. It’s 21 years ago that they qualified for a World Cup. In 2010, you were the country that organised it. It’s time that South Africa can qualify again for such a big tournament. So, therefore, it’s a very important camp,” Broos said.
Three days later, Bafana are going to face Rwanda away in another very important World Cup qualifier.
“The fact that there are two games, we have to be careful that we have a good start. It will not be easy. You know playing outside in Africa is not easy. Benin played a draw against Senegal, they have quality. We have to be confident because of the performances we did even in the last two years,” the Belgian said.
