Boxing trainer Damien Durandt gets a second chance to try and dethrone Prince Dlomo when he leads his boxer Ntethelelo Nkosi against the reigning South African junior-welterweight title holder.

The inexperienced Nkosi will attempt to upstage Dlomo when they fight at The Globe Suncoast Casino in Durban on Friday next week.

“Look, Nkosi is up for the job. He wants to become a South African champion. He’s worked very hard to be in this position to challenge for the South African title and he’s deserving of having the opportunity,” Durandt said.

“He’s excited to be featuring in a bill in KwaZulu-Natal, his home province. And I think it will be a night for him to remember to capture the South African title in his home province. I believe he’s got the tools to defeat Prince Dlomo.”

Durandt’s other boxer Marcus Lebogo was unsuccessful in his bid to dethrone Dlomo when they met at the Pietermaritzburg City Hall four months ago.

“Prince was the better boxer against Marcus Lebogo. I believe Nkosi has the style that will disturb Dlomo. I believe Nkosi is the future of South African boxing. He’s a kid I invested effort and a lot of time building and getting him into this position,” Durandt remarked.

Nkosi from Mtubatuba has won five fights (two stoppages) and lost twice while Pietermaritzburg-born Dlomo has 17 wins (six knockouts), 12 defeats and a draw.
