A combination of great bowling and Travis Head’s phenomenal batting were catalysts, which led Australia to Cricket World Cup glory in front of 120 000 fans at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, India, on Sunday.

Needing 241 to win after hosts India had posted 240 runs in overs, the Australians knocked exactly their intended target in 43 overs to beat hosts India as they bagged their sixth Cricket World Cup trophy.

Head, who’s going to celebrate his 30th birthday next month, knocked 137 runs after facing 120 deliveries as the Australians won the match by six wickets with 42 balls to spare.

Australia won the toss and opted to field, a master stroke which helped them defeat India. The Australians outthought and outplayed the Indians in all departments.
