Rwanda recorded their first win since March 2021 after they shocked Bafana Bafana beating them 2-0 in a 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier at the Huye Stadium in Butare on Tuesday afternoon.

The Rwandans shot to the lead in the 12th minute after Innocent Nshuti beat Bafana goalkeeper and captain Ronwen Williams following a blunder by Nkosinathi Sibisi. This was Rwanda’s first goal at home in 26 months.

The home side doubled the lead through Gilbert Mugisha after miscommunication between Khuliso Mudau and Williams in the 28th minute.
