It was a matter of time before fight referee Siphiwo Mbini intervened as Siyakholwa Kuse pummelled Tanzanian opponent Khalid Kalama Ally at will at the Whittlesea Multipurpose Hall in Sada on Sunday evening.

Mbini, an experienced ring official, finally intervened on behalf of the Tanzanian in the eighth round as Kuse had put him in all sorts of trouble.

And as a result of the stoppage, Kuse won the vacant African Boxing Union (ABU) mini-flyweight title to end the year on a high.

This was sweet victory for the 23-year-old Kuse as he won his second title in five months having dethroned former South African minimumweight champion Bangile Nyangani in July this year.
