Mlandeli Tengimfene is planning big things for his boxer Azinga ‘Golden Boy’ Fuzile after the former South African featherweight dispatched Tanzanian opponent Emmanuel Amos Stephano in four rounds at the Whittlesea Multipurpose Hall in Sada on Sunday evening.
Having had his last fight more than 16 months ago, Fuzile took very good care of his opponent and stopped him in the fourth round.
“Our plan for Azinga is to give him another 10 rounds bout as a test early next year, say around March. We are going to look for a more credible and tougher opponent. Maybe we will get a boxer from England or Mexico. Preferably, a rated boxer, even if he’s in the top 15. We are pushing for Azinga to get rated because we believe he needs to get into the ratings,” Tengimfene revealed.
The 27-year-old Fuzile was once rated by the International Boxing Federation (IBF) and even got a crack at the junior-lightweight title. He was outpointed by Japanese boxer Kenichi Ogawa in the United States in November 2021.
“Azinga is a known boxer. He needs to go back to the international space. We will then throw him into the wolves after that because we believe he would be ready by then,” Tengimfene said.
