Outgoing chairperson of the board of Boxing South Africa (BSA) Luthando Jack has failed to live up to his word regarding the position of the regulatory body’s chief executive officer.
Jack promised during the BSA board’s appearance before parliament’s portfolio committee on sport, arts and culture last month that they were going to fill the vacant CEO position at the regulator.
This was after it emerged that BSA had agreed to pay its former CEO Moffat Qithi R11 million, down from R15m, after he won his case against the regulatory body on all legal platforms up to the Constitutional Court.
“We are now in the process of filling that position, which will go a long way in creating a leadership stability within Boxing South Africa. All of us agree that it is long overdue,” Jack said when he was addressing parliament’s portfolio committee on sport, arts and culture.
Unfortunately, nothing has happened since last month when Jack uttered those words as the CEO position has not been filled or advertised yet.
Jack together with his fellow board members Erick Nsikayezwe Sithole, Gilberto Martins, Azwitamisi Nthangeni, Suren Maharaj and Khulile Radu are leaving as their three-year term ends on Monday next week.
Veteran administrator Sakhiwe Sodo is the only member of the outgoing board who is returning with the incoming team.
