Bafana Bafana and Al Ahly star forward Percy Tau won the Interclub Player of the Year Award at the 2023 CAF Awards ceremony held in Marrakech, Morocco, on Monday evening.
The 29-year-old Tau beat Namibia and Mamelodi Sundowns striker Peter Shalulile as well as Pyramids FC’s Fiston Mayele from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) to the award.
Tau’s compatriot and Banyana Banyana coach Desiree Ellis walked away with the Women’s Coach of the Year award. This is the fourth time – 2018, 2019, 2022 and 2023 – that the 60-year-old Ellis won the same award.
Meanwhile, the all-conquering Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies team won the Women’s Club of the Year award.
