Phumelela ‘The Truth’ Cafu from Duncan Village is looking at campaigning internationally after he stopped Enathi Stelle without even raising a sweat last Saturday.
Cafu took 26 seconds to end the proceedings with only one punch, which sent Stelle to the canvas as he went on to win the vacant South African junior-bantamweight title at the East London International Convention Centre (ICC).
“I said it from the beginning that I had no interest in the SA title. There was really no need for this fight. I just wanted to prove that I’m the best junior-bantamweight boxer in the country,” Cafu said.
“There was a lot of hype leading to the fight. It was as if Stelle had accomplished something as a professional boxer. We all know that he has accomplished nothing. There was no way that Stelle was going to beat me. I said that I was going to chop off his head. I did exactly that with just one punch. I only asked one question and it was the end of it. I had expected the fight to last at least five rounds, not just one round.”
With the Stelle fight behind him, Cafu now wants to focus on his international campaign as he dreams of becoming a world champion.
“My aim now is to compete internationally because that’s where I belong. My main aim is to become a world champion one day,” Cafu remarked.
The World Boxing Council (WBC) rates Cafu in 11th spot, World Boxing Association (WBA) 12th, International Boxing Federation (IBF) sixth and World Boxing Organisation (WBO) 13th.
