Batsman Temba Bavuma is back in the Proteas squad and will lead the South African senior national cricket in a two-Test series against India.
The Proteas begin the new world Test Championship campaign in Centurion starting on Boxing Day.
The second Test match is scheduled for Newlands Stadium in Cape Town and will start on Wednesday, 3 January.
Meanwhile, the Test matches follow after the Indians defeated the Proteas 3-2 in a one day international (ODI) series.
