Sivenathi ‘Special One’ Nontshinga is in a straight run of his preparations as he engages in intense training before his rematch against Mexican boxer Adrian Curiel Dominguez next month.

With just over four weeks before Nontshinga attempts to reclaim the International Boxing Federation (IBF) junior-flyweight crown he lost Dominguez in November last year, he has since returned to Johannesburg to finalise his preparations for this very important assignment.

The 25-year-old Nontshinga squares up against the Mexican in Mexico on Friday, 16 February (Saturday, 17 February, South African time).

“Nontshinga is back in Johannesburg. He’s been training in East London and we will continue training in Johannesburg,” Nontshinga’s trainer Colin ‘Nomakanjani’ Nathan said.

After he was stopped in the second round by Dominguez in Monaco, next month’s rematch is going to give Nontshinga a lifeline and an opportunity to avenge the November loss to the Mexican.

Nontshinga from Reeston in East London has lost once in 13 fights where he has registered 12 wins with nine stoppages. On the other hand, Dominguez has 24 wins (five knockouts), four losses and a draw.
