Chicken Farm boxer Yamkela ‘The Chemical’ Phaliso is not chickening out and has accepted reigning South African featherweight champion Zolisa Batyi’s invite to face him in a national title fight.

And Phaliso is now sweating it out at the All Winners Boxing Club as he hopes to end Batyi’s reign as the SA featherweight king when they meet in East London on Sunday, 31 March.

“It’s true that I have been approached regarding Phaliso challenging Batyi. I have agreed to the fight. I’m only waiting for their offer now,” Tengimfene confirmed.

Phaliso, who is trained by former SA flyweight titlist Makazole Tete and his assistant Themba Mali, recorded a second round technical knockout victory over Itumeleng Tsholo at the Whittlesea Multipurpose Hall in Sada in his last fight in December.

On the other hand, Batyi made a first successful defence of his crown when he drew with Abdul-Aziz Kunert at the Bellville campus of the Cape Peninsula University of Technology  (CPUT) in August last year.

Meanwhile, Phaliso has a professional record of eight victories with seven knockouts and two losses compared to Batyi, who has registered seven wins (five stoppages), two defeats and a draw.
