The South African senior men’s national team, Bafana Bafana, begin their group stages Africa Cup of Nations campaign with a tricky clash against the Eagles of Mali at the Amadou Gon Coulibaly Stadium in Korhogo, Ivory Coast, on Tuesday evening.

And Bafana coach Hugo Broos is hoping for a successful AFCON tournament just like he did when he won it with a youthful Cameroon’s Indomitable Lions in 2017.

“You know when you’ve won it, once you win it, you want to win it twice. It’s a fantastic feeling. I’ve said it before. It was a fantastic experience six years ago and you can be sure that I dream of it. To do it the second time, saying is much easier than doing it. So let’s start tomorrow,” Broos said.

The 71-year-old Belgian is going to have a full squad to select his starting line-up from after captain Ronwen Williams, Themba Zwane and Mothobi Mvala returned to full training a few days ago.

Meanwhile, Bafana second group game is going to be against their neighbours Namibia at the same Korhogo venue on Sunday evening. The Brave Warriors of Namibia start their group stages campaign with a match against the Carthage Eagles of Tunisia at 19h00 on Tuesday.
