Zambia and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) played to a 1-1 draw in a Group F Africa Cup of Nations tie at the Laurent Pokou Stadium in San Pedro, Ivory Coast, on Wednesday evening.
After absorbing pressure from the Congolese, Red Star Belgrade midfielder Kings Kangwa put Chipolopolo ahead when he beat DRC goalkeeper Lionel Mpasi in the 23rd minute.
It took the Leopards only four minutes to level matters as Yoane Wassi equalised following Cedric Bakambu’s cross from the right side.
Match referee Bamlak Tessema Weyesa awarded the Leopards a penalty after Tandi Mwape handled the ball while slipping inside the Chipolopolo box. The penalty decision got changed after VAR consultation.
