Morocco’s Atlas Lions were too good for Tanzania, whipping them 3-0 in a Group F 2023 Africa Cup of Nations match at the Laurent Pokou Stadium in San Pedro, Ivory Coast, on Wednesday evening.
The Moroccans opened the scoring through their skipper Romain Saïss on the half hour mark to take a 1-0 lead at half-time.
As if trailing by an odd goal was not enough, the Taifa Stars were reduced to 10 men when Novatus Miroshi was sent off after picking up a second booking for a dangerous tackle on Azzedine Ounahi in the 70th minute.
The 2022 FIFA World Cup semi-finalists doubled their lead in the 77th minute through Ounahi. Three minutes later, Youssef En-Nesyri scored the North Africans’ third goal.
