Cape Verde became the first team to reach the second round of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations finals in Ivory Coast after they won their second successive match as they defeated the Mozambican Mambas 3-0 at the Felix Houphouet-Boigny Stadium in Abidjan on Friday evening.
Tiago Manuel Dias Correia broke the deadlock when he gave the Blue Sharks the lead with a free kick from long range in the 32nd minute.
Six minutes into the second half, Blue Sharks captain Ryan Mendes made it 2-0 following a blunder by Mambas defender Edmilson Dove. Kevin Lenini’s long range strike made it 3-0 in the 69th minute.
