Just over three months since he defeated Japanese boxer Tomoki Kameda in Japan, Lerato ‘Lights Out’ Dlamini has signed a contract to face the former world champion yet again.
Welkom-born Dlamini beat Osaka-born Kameda by a split decision in front of a hostile crowd at the Ota-City General Gymnasium in Tokyo, Japan, in October last year.
Two judges Mike Fitzgerald and Fernando Villareal had Dlamini winning by 116-112 meaning that he won eight of the 12 rounds while Kameda won seven rounds on his compatriot Michiaki Someya’s score card, which read 115-113.
This rematch between Dlamini and the 32-year-old Kameda, who is a former World Boxing Organisation (WBO) champion, is scheduled for the International Conference Hall in Nagoya, Japan, on Sunday, 31 March.
“We have agreed to a rematch with Kameda based on several factors being agreed to,” Dlamini’s trainer Colin ‘Nomakanjani’ Nathan said.
The 29-year-old Dlamini from Welkom in the Free State has a record of 20 victories (11 knockouts) and two losses while Kameda has 40 wins (22 stoppages) and four defeats.
