Angola became the first team to reach the quarter-finals of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations tournament after they thrashed Namibia 3-0 in a last-16 match at Stade de la Paix in Bouake, Ivory Coast, on Saturday evening.
Playing with 10 men after their goalkeeper Adilson da Cruz Cipriano was red carded for handling the ball outside the box in the 17th minute, the Black Antelopes took the lead through Jacinto Muondo Dala following a cross from Alfredo Kulembe Ribeiro seven minutes before the half-time break.
Two minutes later, the Brave Warriors were reduced to 10 men after Lubeni Haukongo was red carded for a second bookable offence.
The Angolans quickly took advantage of a short Namibian defence as Dala completed his brace after he was once again fed by Ribeiro in the 42nd minute.
Cristovao Paciencia, who is known by the moniker Mabululu, made it 3-0 when he beat Brave Warriors goalkeeper Loydt Kazapua in the 66th minute.
