Cape Verde have reached the quarter-finals of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations tournament after a hard-fought 1-0 win over Mauritania at the Houphouet-Boigny Stadium in Abidjan in Ivory Coast on Monday evening.
The only goal of the match was scored by Ryan Mendes from the penalty spot two minutes before full-time.
Meanwhile, the Blue Sharks are going to play in the last eight against the winner between Senegal and hosts Ivory Coast, who play later.
