The Premier Soccer League (PSL) announced on Sunday afternoon that it had decided to postpone all midweek matches.
The DStv Premiership programme was set to resume on Tuesday evening with Orlando Pirates welcoming Chippa United at the Orlando Stadium in Soweto and Kaizer Chiefs entertaining TS Galaxy at the Peter Mokaba in Polokwane. On the other hand, Cape Town City were going to play against Moroka Swallows on the same day.
The matches got postponed because Bafana Bafana will only land in South Africa on Wednesday from the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations tournament in Ivory Coast.
“Following receipt of communication indicating that Bafana Bafana will only return to South Africa from their successful AFCON trip on Wednesday, 14 February 2024, the Premier Soccer League has decided to postpone all DStv Premiership fixtures originally scheduled for midweek (13 and 14 February 2024). The rescheduled dates for these matches will be communicated in due course,” a PSL statement said.
Meanwhile, Bafana finished third at the AFCON finals after they beat the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) 6-5 on penalties early on Sunday morning (South African time).
