Lerato ‘Lights Out’ Dlamini fears nothing as he continues with his preparations for next month’s rematch against Osaka-born former world champion Tomoki ‘The Little Mexican’ Kameda in Japan.
Dlamini registered a split decision victory over Kameda in a 12 rounds bout at the Ota-City General Gymnasium in Tokyo in October last year. Two judges Mike Fitzgerald and Fernando Villareal had Dlamini winning by 116-112 meaning that he won eight of the 12 rounds while Kameda won seven rounds on his compatriot Michiaki Someya’s score card, which read 115-113.
And now Dlamini faces the 32-year-old Kameda, who is a former World Boxing Organisation (WBO) champion, in a 12 rounds rematch at the International Conference Hall in Nagoya on Sunday, 31 March in Japan.
“I need to be smart this time around. In the first fight, I was comfortable because I was winning it easily. I got caught in round nine and that resulted in a cut. Now I have to be more cautious and more disciplined,” Dlamini remarked.
“Anyway, I’m going to win this fight. I know Kameda, I will have to use different movements and combinations. I know what to do and I expect a tougher fight than our first meeting.”
The 29-year-old Dlamini from Welkom has a record of 20 victories (11 knockouts) and two losses while Kameda has 40 wins (22 stoppages) and four defeats.
Dlamini is rated 14th by the World Boxing Council (WBC) and second in the International Boxing Federation (IBF) ratings while Kameda is 15th in the WBC, rated sixth by the IBF and is 13th in the WBO.
