The International Boxing Federation (IBF) has assigned vastly-experienced judges to officiate in the fight between Eastern Cape boxer Sivenathi ‘Special One’ Nontshinga and Mexican foe Adrian Curiel Dominguez at the Guelaguetza Auditorium in Oaxaca, Mexico, on Friday evening (Saturday morning, SA time).

With a combined total of 403 bouts as judges, South Africa’s Deon Dwarte, Frenchman Vincent Dupas and Alejandro Lopez Cid from Mexico have been given the very important job of judging the much-awaited fight.

And for Dwarte from Cape Town, this is the sixth Nontshinga bout he’s working on since 2020 as he has officiated as a judge in three fights and twice as a referee in the former world champion’s bouts. The 54-year-old Dwarte has been an international ring offical since 2001 and has judged in 154 bouts.

Vesoul-based Dupas has judged in 161 bouts and Lopez Cid from Mexico City was involved in 88 fights as a judge. Dupas got his international break in 1995 and has never looked back while Lopez Cid started internationally in 2002.

Meanwhile, Texas-based Mark Calo-oy is going to be the third man in the ring during the Nontshinga-Dominguez shootout. Calo-oy is an experienced referee, who has refereed in 398 bouts and was a judge in 140 fights since 2003.
