A new date has been set for a postponed tournament, which is going to be promoted by Rodney Berman’s Golden Gloves at the Emperor’s Palace in Kempton Park.

Friday, 5 April is earmarked for the tournament set to be headlined by an International Boxing Organisation (IBO) junior-bantamweight title contest between reigning champion Ricardo Malajika and Marcel Braithwaite from Liverpool in the United Kingdom.

Initially, this tournament was pencilled for Saturday, 9 March, at the Emperor’s Palace in Kempton Park. However, uncertainty caused by the impasse between the National Professional Boxing Promoters Association (NPBPA) and the Minister of Sport, Zizi Kodwa, forced Golden Gloves to postpone the show.

South African heavyweight champion is scheduled to defend his title against Shaun Potgieter while former national champions Chris Thompson and Juan Roux will fight over eight rounds. And Brandon Thysse will face off against Darrin Rossouw in a 10 rounds middleweight bout.
