Things are looking great for two-time world champion Sivenathi ‘Special One’ Nontshinga, who returns home on Tuesday morning, after he stopped Mexican boxer Adrian Curiel Dominguez in the 10th round in Mexico on Saturday morning (South African time).
As a result of the stoppage victory, Nontshinga from the Eastern Cape regained the International Boxing Federation (IBF) junior-flyweight crown, which he had surrendered to Dominguez in Monaco last November. Last weekend’s bout was the second fight that Nontshinga won on Mexican soil in less than two years having defeated Mexican boxer Hector Flores via a split decision in Hermosillo in September 2022.
Now the 25-year-old Nontshinga has signed a new multi-fight contract with Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom. Hearn’s promotional outfit promoted and co-promoted three of Nontshinga’s last four fights.
“We did sign a new options agreement, which was way better than the first options agreement we signed after we beat Flores,” Nontshinga’s trainer Colin ‘Nomakanjani’ Nathan from NO DOUBT Management confirmed.
Nontshinga together with his father Thembani Gopheni and Bernie Pailman are due to land at the OR International Airport in Kempton Park at 10h55 on Tuesday.
