Bantamweight boxer Lusizo “Speed Fire” Manzana’s stay at the Bedford Hospital in Mthatha has come to an end as he has been discharged after spending almost six weeks at the health facility.
Mthatha-born Manzana was admitted in hospital last month so that he could undergo an operation to fix a troublesome left shoulder.
“The doctors discharged him after going through a rigorous test after the surgery. His bill of health has been given a thumbs up. He will slowly take baby steps towards his full recovery. Physiotherapist sessions in strengthning his muscles around the shoulder will be the order of the day for the next six weeks until he gets to a point of full recovery,” All Winners Boxing Club manager Mlandeli Tengimfene said on Thursday.
An operation became a necessity for Manzana after the shoulder injury robbed him of an opportunity to win a South African bantamweight title in December last year.
Fighting very well against Landile Ngxeke in vacant SA bantamweight title contest, the 26-year-old Manzana was stopped in the fourth round owing to the injury.
