Reaching a milestone of 100 Banyana Banyana caps is something Jermaine Seoposenwe does not take lightly as she played her heart out during the South senior women’s national team’s 1-0 win over Tanzania in a second leg clash of the 2024 Olympic qualifiers at the Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit on on Tuesday evening.
The 30-year-old Seoposenwe from Cape Town became the 10th Banyana player to join the exclusive club of players, who have played 100 matches for the national team.
“It’s a privilege and honour always to walk out for the national team. We’ve grown in leaps and bounds. It’s been 14 years for me being part of the national team. Everyone has played such a big role in my journey in the national team. I can just thank God for sparing me this long in the national team,” Seoposenwe said.
On Tuesday’s match against Tanzania, Seoposenwe said: “I think Tanzania came out, they sat back. They made for us very hard in the midfield. The same when we were away there. Overall, I think we controlled the game. It was a little scrappy here and there.
“I think going forward we need to work a lot. We are gonna face Nigeria, which is super, super tough opponent. We’ve seen them so many times over the couple of years. It’s not gonna be easy. We’re all gunning for that spot to go to the Olympics.”
