There is no hurry to start negotiations even though a rematch of the April 2021 fight between Sivenathi ‘Special One’ Nontshinga and Filipino boxer Christian ‘The Bomb’ Araneta has been ordered by the International Boxing Federation (IBF).

Current IBF junior-flyweight champion Nontshinga, who stopped Mexican boxer Adrian Curiel Dominguez in the 10th round in Oaxaca, Mexico, last month outpointed Araneta the first time they met at the Boardwalk Hotel and Casino in Gqeberha in April 2024.

The IBF had given the camp of the 25-year-old Nontshinga and that of Araneta, 28, have until 4 April to negotiate.

“The standard procedure is that we can’t enter into any negotiations until after a period of 30 days, effective from the day of our fight, has elapsed,” Nontshinga’s trainer Colin ‘Nomakanjani’ Nathan said.

Meanwhile, Araneta from Mandaue in Cebu, Philippines, earned the right to challenge for the IBF title after he stopped his compatriot Arvin Magramo in the first round in Cebu City late in January.
