After losing his South African minimumweight title to Siyakholwa Kuse, Bangile Nyangani, who has moved up two divisions, is now going to make his flyweight debut in May.

Nyangani and his trainer Alan Toweel decided that it was time for him to jump to the flyweight division following the SA title loss to Kuse in a rematch at the East London International Convention Centre (ICC) in July last year.

“Bangile is going to have his first fight as a flyweight in May. I’m excited about that. It’s a new division and it’s gonna be relevant,” Toweel remarked.

Nyangani went into the Kuse fight highly rated in all four major world boxing bodies. He was rated seventh by the World Boxing Council (WBC), fourth in the World Boxing Association (WBA) ratings, 10th in the International Boxing Federation (IBF) and 11th by the World Boxing Organisation (WBO).

After the loss, Bityi-born Nyangani, unfortunately, dropped out of the top 15 in the WBA, IBF and WBO while he’s now rated 12th by the WBC.
