Negotiations between world champion Sivenathi ‘Special One’ Nontshinga’s camp and the handlers of Filipino boxer Christian ‘The Bomb’ Araneta are yet to begin.
This is so because the International Boxing Federation (IBF) had rescinded its initial order for the two camps to begin negotiations.
This came after the IBF was informed that Nontshinga was suspended for 30 days by the Mexico City Boxing and Wrestling Commission as per its post-fight standard procedure.
Current IBF junior-flyweight champion Nontshinga, who stopped Mexican boxer Adrian Curiel Dominguez in the 10th round in Oaxaca, Mexico, last month, outpointed Araneta the first time they met at the Boardwalk Hotel in Gqeberha in April 2021.
“The IBF rescinded its order because of the suspension. I should be getting a new order from the IBF this week,” Nontshinga’s trainer Colin ‘Nomakanjani’ Nathan said.
Araneta from Mandaue in Cebu, Philippines, earned the right to challenge Nontshinga following a first round stoppage of his Filipino compatriot Arvin Magramo in Cebu City late in January.
Meanwhile, Nathan has revealed that they are negotiating with Top Rank regarding the IBF featherweight elimination bout between his boxer Lerato ‘Lights Out’ Dlamini and Ukrainian Arnold Khegai.
“We are busy with negotiations for the Dlamini fight. Negotiations are going to be concluded soon. I believe that this is going to be a winnable fight for Lerato,” Nathan concluded.
