One-time world title contender Azinga ‘Golden Boy’ Fuzile is going to fight at a Golden Gloves tournament in Cape Town in three months’ time.
That Fuzile, who stopped Tanzanian boxer Emmanuel Amos Stephano in the fourth round at the Whittlesea Multipurpose Hall in Sada last December, is going to fight in July was confirmed by both his manager Mlandeli Tengimfene and Golden Gloves boss Rodney Berman.
“I’m actually a fan of Azinga. I think there’s still an excellent future ahead for him. He’s 27 years old. He’s one of South Africa’s class fighters. I’m very excited with Mla, together we will plot the future and get him back to a world champion,” Berman said.
Tengimfene, who manages All Winners Boxing Club in Mdantsane, said: “Our relationship with Rodney goes a very long way. Azinga will be fighting at a Golden Gloves tournament. We will do so to make sure that his boxing career gets to be developed further.”
Meanwhile, it’s going to be the second time that the former South African featherweight champion fights at a Golden Gloves tournament.
Fuzile from Duncan Village in East London stopped Tshifhiwa Munyai in the third round at a Golden Gloves tournament at the Emperor’s Palace in Kempton Park in October 2017.
