Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) has won the purse bid to stage the International Boxing Federation (IBF) featherweight elimination bout between South African boxer Lerato ‘Lights Out’ Dlamini and Ukranian Arnold Khegai.
This IBF bout went to purse bids after Dlamini’s handlers and Bob Arum’s Top Rank failed to come to a purse agreement.
Dlamini’s trainer and manager Colin ‘Nomakanjani’ Nathan then wrote to IBF championship chairman Carlos Ortiz giving him the go ahead to proceed with purse bid.
Dlamini from Welkom in the Free State is rated number two in the featherweight division by the IBF while the Ukranian is one place below him.
Meanwhile, the fight will probably take place in July and Dlamini will become the second South African boxer to feature in a PBC tournament.
Chris van Heerden was the first South African to fight in a PBC tournament when he lost to American boxer Errol Spence Junior in September 2015.
