Sikho ‘Sequence’ Nqothole will fly out of South Africa for Mexico this coming weekend hoping to emulate International Boxing Federation (IBF) junior-flyweight champion Sivenathi ‘Special One’ Nontshinga, who returned home from the Central American country with a world title in February.
The 29-year-old Nqothole from Mthatha is going to square up against yet to be beaten Mexican boxer Rene Calixto Bibiano on Saturday, 25 May (Sunday, 26 May, South African time).
Calixto has a perfect record, having won all his 22 fights with nine of those wins coming from stoppages as he faces Nqothole, who is trained by former South African bantamweight champion Phumzile ‘Sweet Chocolate’ Matyhila in Johannesburg.
Nqothole is rated 12th by the World Boxing Association (WBA), is in eighth spot in the International Boxing Federation (IBF) ratings and the World Boxing Organisation (WBO) rates him in fifth position.
On the other hand, the 29-year-old Calixto from Guerrero in Mexico, who stopped two of his last five victims, is rated 11th by the WBA.
