Chances of Lerato ‘Lights Out’ Dlamini fighting against Japanese boxer Tomoki Kameda in an International Boxing Federation (IBF) featherweight elimination bout are getting high.

This follows after Ukranian boxer Arnold Khegai withdrew from his fight against Dlamini, which was set to be held in Johannesburg on Saturday, 13 July.

With Khegai out of the way, fourth-rated Kameda is now the next available opponent for Dlamini, who hails from Welkom in the Free State.

“We are in a very strong position now and going back to Japan with fair judging and IBF neutral officials sounds great, provided Kameda accepts and negotiations run smoothly,” Dlamini’s trainer and manager Colin ‘Nomakanjani’ Nathan said.

Dlamini defeated the 32-year-old Kameda on points when they meet in a non-title fight in Japan in October last year.

Actually, Dlamini and Kameda were to have met in a rematch in March this year. But the fight didn’t take place owing to the IBF ordering Dlamini to fight against Khegai in an elimination bout. – Monwabisi Jimlongo
